Party Rock Tour Wrap-Up/I’m In McAllen Bitch
Tuesday, December 22, 2009
The day before yesterday, our tour bus pulled up to the venue in the last city on our tour, McAllen, Texas. We kicked off our tour in places like Vegas and Hollywood, so it seemed like it would be a difficult feat for the small Texas town to match up. Instead, it turned out to be one of the most warm crowds, fun shows and craziest afterparties we’ve seen yet. The tour couldn’t have ended on a better note.
We kicked off the day as we typically did on the Party Rock Tour--in the late afternoon. We had police escorts accompany us to a big Mexican dinner. They even came to the bathroom with us. When the street lights turned red, they turned on their lights and took us through as if the president was riding with us. The cops turned out to be fans--they got a little giddy and wanted pictures with the boys.
Our dinner at the Mexican spot was filled with lots of pranks and laughter. Pistol Pete’s mom texted him saying, “You are my sunshine. Xoxo.” For some reason, he has his mom stored in his phone under her full name rather than “mom.” Sky and Foo got ahold of his phone and responded with something like, “I want to smack your ass.” Her response was, “Peter, this is your mother.” The boys wrote back, “You’re hot.”
“Is this Redfoo or Peter?” she asked. When she found out it was Foo, all was well. “How are you, honey? Can’t wait to see you in Vegas!”
Everyone cracked up. “She wants you!” [For the record, Pete’s mom is amazing, as are all of the Party Rock fam’s family members.]
The McAllen show was oversold and the venue was filled to the brim. There were fans as far as the eyes could see--some were crammed into corners and others were even standing on tables in the back. According to waiters and the venue’s employees, the Party Rock Tour was the hottest thing in town and everyone was talking about LMFAO.
Our last chant of the tour in our dressing room brought on all sorts of emotions--it was bittersweet as we were all so happy and proud with the success of the tour and the experiences we had along the way, but sad beyond comprehension to see it come to an end.
I experienced the show in a different way--rather than standing onstage with our tour manager, Reek, production manager, Uncle Frank, security guard “Paxton with a T”/Andrew, and the tour’s bikini girl, Nicole, I ran around, helping Pete record part of the show, getting a photography lesson from some local media and getting caught in the rain of confetti during “Yes.” I hadn’t come onstage for “Yes” since the Portland tour date way back in early November, so it was a much-needed celebration. That song is so representative of the entire Party Rock Crew. We see our dreams everyday. We’re ending the tour with countless memories, inside jokes and a Grammy nomination for LMFAO.

It looked like we were in “No Country For Old Men” when we got to our venue in San Antonio, Texas yesterday--desolate, deserted, with no sign of civilization in sight. OK, there was a burger spot around the corner, but that was the only sign of life for miles.

Apparently, Dallas is known as the Big D. I guess there’s a double meaning for that, as Foo announced, “Big D is in the house” at the start of the performance at the House of Blues.
We spent the day on our bus working and, as mentioned in the previous update, chatting with the Houston police department. Later, a limo driver randomly offered to drive me and Bikini Girl from our hotel to the venue. We rolled up in style, free of charge.
The Dallas audience was filled with characters, including a promoter taking over the audience with an enormous sign reading, “The Best Promoter Alive: I Do Exist In Real Life.” He was flashing the peace sign like he was Nixon running for president. Mixed in with the younger fans and college crowd was an older hippie couple, rocking tie dye and a Cat in the Hat type number. They were hanging over the top level, singing along to all of the songs.
As always, there were a lot of laughs during the performance--the “I Don’t Wanna Be Girl” playfully fought back as Foo called her a triflin’ ho, a player and the female Tiger Woods and, according to Sky’s latest Party Rock Church gospel, the Party Rock movement actually increased the size of Q’s once small penis.

When we got to Houston/H-Town yesterday, or as the rappers say, “the H”, we spotted a fan dancing in the rain in front of the bus in an attempt to get tickets to the show. The show was so oversold last night, though, that we couldn’t even add people to the list.
Like the New Orleans House of Blues, the Houston House of Blues also had a wall of sold out shows. Apparently, we will be making it on there, as well.
The boys came out to roaring applause and a sea of cameras. When Foo asked, “Where all my sexy ladies at?”, guys were screaming, pointing at their girlfriends. Girls in the VIP section upstairs were grinding up against the glass in their tiny dresses and no shoes. A server from the restaurant downstairs even appeared backstage in her apron, rocking LMFAO frames and throwing her hands in the air during “Shots.”
After the show, we, along with Space Cowboy, the Paradiso Girls, Shwayze and Far East Movement took a party bus to Rich’s in Houston for the afterparty. The topics of conversation included Q leaning like a cholo and taking his balls out for photos.

On our way to New Orleans (or Nawlins, as the locals call it), we stopped in Pensacola, Florida for what turned out to be one of the most amazing spots on the tour to date.
We didn’t have a show scheduled--instead, it was a happy hour event at a spot called Suite. At 5 p.m., we popped in for what we thought was going to be an early evening with a few drinks. It turned into an insane night at the club. Who ever thought we’d be clubbing at 5 p.m.? By 7, everyone was drunk. DJ Air was was spinning the entire Party Rock album, as well as remixes. Pensacola local, the Krazy Russian, an old friend of Foo and Sky’s, came out. We also celebrated “Party Rock ambassador” Daniel (Danglin’ D)’s annual 21st birthday.
After the club, we brought the party to Chili’s for Daniel’s birthday dinner and then to the the bus. It was 11 when we started dozing off, when that’s the time we typically start going out.
The evening concluded with Foo busting out of the back room with no pants...or underwear.
“That had to be the most fun night we had all year,” he said.
We arrived in New Orleans at 4 a.m. and some of us started drinking around noon. This city is famous for its Hand Grenades, rumored to be one of the strongest drinks in the world, but the really cool thing about Nawlins is that you can drink in the streets. In true Party Rock fashion, we brought our drinks with us into multiple stores, restaurants and cabs.

Hours before the show, there was an enormous line wrapped around Firestone, the venue. It extended up both streets on either side of the club. Orlando came out hard for LMFAO. Not only were a lot of fans sporting Party Rock Gear, I encountered several Party Rock People members both at our hotel and around our green room.
In addition to the fans and familiar faces, CJ from Real World Cancun joined us both in the green room and onstage, decked out head-to-toe in Party Rock Gear (LMFAO chain tee, Huck Finns, Party Rock jacket and LMFAO whistle).
The show itself was eventful as always. Foo led the crowd in a “Pervert Pete! Pervert Pete!” chant when Pistol Pete (or Paparazzi Pete), as he prefers to be called, came out for “What Happens At The Party.” The audience seemed amused, but they weren’t in on the joke--the chant started the night before when we were all drinking at Wet Willie’s in Miami.

Back in 2007, Foo and Sky made the song, “I’m In Miami Bitch” in anticipation of the Winter Music Conference and the party energy surrounding it. Even though LMFAO calls Hollywood home, it was here that they really got their start. All of us have to credit this amazing city with getting us to where we are today--part of the Party Rock Crew; traveling the country with our friends, the Grammy nominated creators of this party anthem.
Tonight, LMFAO performed at Y100 Jingle Ball, alongside acts including Shakira, the Fray, Flo Rida, Timbaland, Jordin Sparks, Colbie Caillat, 3OH!3 and Jason Derulo.

Today, Bikini Girl, DJ Air, Q and I caught a cab to our hotel. “You’re with LM...Fro? How do you pronounce that?” the cabbie asked.
When we got to the hotel, Air and Q tried figuring out whose name the room was under. “Try Q’s last name,” Air said. “It’s Q-u....f-a-g.”
Tonight’s show was at the House of Blues. It was a good one--a refreshing improvement from last night’s sound/monitor crisis. The place was packed and there were a lot of interesting characters--among them a boy that was approximately 12-years-old, who came onstage for “Yes”, and a girl rocking a big fro wig, who later tore it off and came up for “I Don’t Wanna Be.”

"This one’s for North Caroliiiina...”
Charlotte is an interesting place with a whole lot of southern hospitality. I have to hand it to the crowd at tonight’s show at the Fillmore for handling the unexpected twists and turns with grace and enthusiasm.
Backtracking a bit, Foo did a phone interview with Backslash Magazine, a Florida-based college publication today. It was interesting listening in while he talked for an hour about the Party Rock Crew, how we all got involved and what inspired him to become an entrepreneur in creating not just a music group with Sky, but an entire enterprise that includes a publishing company and a fashion line. He even talked about plans for a Party Rock cruise, which I imagine would be something like our tour bus at sea with twice as much drinking and much warmer weather.
While I was on the line, I climbed into the cab from hell. The driver took off like a speeding bullet, all the while hanging out the window, screaming at some dude going the wrong direction on a one-way street.

robably my favorite thing about the Party Rock Tour is our time just hanging out on the bus together. After soundcheck today, DJ Air was telling us a story about how he busted ass and nearly got a concussion when Foo strolled on, belting out “Scream My Name” like he was in an opera.
Q and Air showed us photos of what they put up in lights during soundcheck--Air lit up the stage with, “Q HAS A BABY DICK”--before Q and Foo got into one of their daily sex debates.
Foo actually launched into a full-fledged sex demo, telling everyone how he tries some tantric method of taking it slow. He was doing all the motions and making all of the noises.
I’m not sure what it was in reference to, but Foo said, “I already do everything; do I have to give birth next, too?”
“Am I the dad?” Air whispered.

We’re in Norfolk, Virginia today (or as Foo likes to tastefully say, “I’m in your Virginia, bitch”).
The boys did a phone interview with a newspaper today and, as their interviews tend to be, it was over-the-top and hilarious. Foo and Sky managed to multi-task, sharing stories while playing online poker.
I’m not sure if the journalist will have enough room to publish this priceless story in the Myrtle Sun, so I wanted to take the opportunity to share it with the rest of you non-South Carolina party rockers.
When asked how they got their names, Sky told the interviewer a classic tale.
“A lovely lady named Nancy was working as a cook in an Asian restaurant,” he said. “She was pregnant with Mr. Foo here and, at the time, she was cooking a dish with red curry and coconut milk. She spilled some on the floor and slipped in it. When she fell, the baby actually popped out and flew into the pan with all of the red sauce. The baby was stained red and stayed that way for 10 years. At first, they were calling him Redfoo Lee, but he shortened it to just Redfoo when he got into music.”
“To this day, he still smells like curry. He doesn’t even have to wear deodorant. You’ll smell something and you’ll be like, ‘Who’s cooking? Oh wait, that’s just Foo coming down the hall.’”

The boys returned from LA today to meet up with the rest of the crew in Farmingdale, Long Island. One of the few signs of civilization was a Chipotle, an LMFAO favorite, so a few of us ended up there.
Sky and Foo were behind me in line when the cashier excitedly whispered to me,”Oh my God! LMFAO is here.” I know; I tour with them.
The boys sat down to eat with a random mom and a bunch of teen girls. Afterwards, Foo came to sit with me and my friend, Joey, a law student. He proceeded to ask her questions on contract law as some teen boys came up for autographs.
Back on the bus, everyone played video games and napped while fans banged down the bus door. There was a huge crowd surrounding the Party Rock Tour buses; as I tried getting on our bus, fans stopped me asking if I knew if Shwayze had any weed.

The city was pumped for LMFAO’s back-to back sold-out shows at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza last night. While the boys filmed pieces with MTV and Vevo, I ran into a guy in the Penn Station subway chanting, “shots, shots, shots, shots” and groups of party rocked-out girls all over Gramercy.
Our green room was packed between Shwayze’s set and the time LMFAO was scheduled to go on. The entire Party Rock Crew was there, as well as our friends and co-workers from the label, Interscope and the booking agency, Moodswing360. Local friends, family and other groups from the tour squeezed into the tiny space, laughing, fixing drinks and making plans for the Grammys (not only is LMFAO up for a Grammy for Best Electronica/Dance album, another member of the Party Rock Tour family, Space Cowboy, is also up for a Grammy).
Our main concern prior to the boys taking the stage was the time constraint, as the venue had to be emptied before the group for the second show of the night could come inside. We never guessed that the venue would be emptied prematurely for an entirely different reason.
Not even a few lines into “Get Crazy”, the third song of the LMFAO Party Rock Tour set, the power shut down and a deafening alarm blasted off. Within minutes, water was spraying down and filling the venue. Rather than booing or trying to escape, the fans stayed, laughing, screaming and chanting for LMFAO. It was one of the most dedicated audiences I’ve seen.
After a quick green room meeting, we found out that we had to evacuate the premises. The New York Fire Department was on the scene. A pipe explosion caused the entire venue to flood. Luckily, the sound equipment was saved before things got too wet too soon.
On our way out, there was only laughter, no complaining from the bands or the fans. We grabbed bags of chips and pretzels from the bar as we made our way down the flooded stairs. The water was up to our ankles by the time we got outside.

“You know how there’s always a tough guy in school that you feud with...then you become best friends with them? That’s how I see my future with the writer[s] from LA Weekly,” Foo said. “I’d like to meet them in LA at the KIIS FM Jingle Ball this Saturday [December 5]...it’s all in good fun.”
We had a good laugh at the picture of Foo that they chose (and the caption, “our friend, Stefan Gordy.”) Priceless. By the way, thanks for my shout-out!
The piece did end on a classy and respectful note by providing an eloquent quote from Momfoo, as well as a nod to Foo’s father (and Sky’s grandfather) Berry Gordy’s Motown legacy.
Party People, check out the piece from LA Weekly here: http://blogs.laweekly.com/westcoastsound/b-side-stories/lmfao-stefan-gordy-berry-gordy/
Briefly rewinding to last night, Foo, Party Rock model/merch guy Daniel and I were treated to dinner at an Italian restaurant by Bikini Girl Nikole’s parents, who live here in New Haven, Connecticut. They were a riot, telling Foo he had a tight ass and getting pumped up to do shots of Patron. Imagine my surprise when one of our managers, Rene McLean, strolled in with one of my favorite people of all time, booking agent Johnny Maroney.
It was at dinner that Foo read a Facebook comment congratulating him on the Grammy nomination.
“Are we really up for a Grammy?” he asked.

I woke up this afternoon to find Foo scowling over a piece in LA Weekly. The writer, Gustavo Turner, who was covering our November 7th tour stop at the Hollywood Palladium, referred to Foo and Sky as “rap clowns” and shared his rather blunt and wordy opinion in a Party Rock assault on blogs.laweekly.com.
“Who in LA really reads LA Weekly, anyway?” Foo asked.
As we all know, Foo and Sky can be called many things, but “party animals”, “dynamic duo” and “sexy dudes” would be more fitting descriptions.
When we got off the bus to head our separate ways (soundcheck and Starbucks), a school bus tearing down Market Street in West Chester, PA hit our tour bus mirror and took off.
While I was walking down the street with merch guy Daniel, some guys took notice of his fro and my YES leggings. “I’m in West Chester, bitch,” they screamed.
The venue, the Note, is a small, cozy place unlike most of the larger venues we played. Bam Margera (of Jackass and Viva La Bam) is the owner of the Note and was there for the show.
Foo told the crowd that we were at Penn State last night and, for the first time, the crowd cheered. Typically, the crowds boo for the previous tour stops that the boys mention.
Foo shouted, “I’m in West Chester, bitch” and “I’m in your mouth, bitch” to see what the audience preferred, but he settled on the classic, “I’m in Miami, bitch.”
The crowd went crazy for “the Holy Goose”, LMFAO’s version of holy water, which Sky pours on Q during “Party Rock Church” (the intro to the Boom Boom Pow remix).
After the show, we (LMFAO and the Party Rock Crew, Far East Movement, Shwayze and Space Cowboy) took four limos to Atlantic City, New Jersey for our afterparty at Dusk at Caesars.

Up until tonight, it was a tough call if Vegas or Seattle was the best tour stop to date. State College has to take the cake. Penn State truly knows how to party rock.
Earlier today, Sky did a phoner with magxonline.com. The main topic of conversation? Shots. There is apparently a controversy surrounding the song--middle-aged mothers are claiming the song leads to some questionable activity; Sky says that the song is about having fun and they just don’t understand why their daughters are so drawn to he and Foo (because they’re “sexy dudes.”)
Bronne from Real World Cancun joined us tonight--he works as a bartender at our venue, the Cell Block. We became instant friends as soon as we met him on the bus. He is one of the loudest guys I’ve ever met...and also one of the greatest. As he always did on the last season of Real World, he was rocking an LMFAO tee (available at www.partyrocklife.com). Inside the venue, he was leaning over the balcony for most of the show, blowing his whistle, chanting, “Penn State, Penn State” and singing along to every song.
Bronne’s girl friends encouraged the entire VIP section to do shots long before the boys launched into the song. Even the owner of the club got crazy with us.
The crowd was absolutely insane, as were the boys. “She has some big ass titties,” Foo said about the girl he pulled onstage for both “What Happens At The Party” and “I Don’t Wanna Be.” Her friend pulled me aside and shouted, “she has a baby, but don’t tell anyone.”
